Die letzte diesjährige Veranstaltung des Liberalen Zukunftsforum wendet sich einem Thema zu, dass die Grünen zu  monopolisieren versuchen.

Die Partei der europäischen Liberalen, die  ELDR hat im Vorjahr die niederländische D66 damit beauftragt, realistische Perspektiven für nachhaltiges Wachstum zu entwickeln, das ökomomische Notwendigkeiten mit Verantwortung für Umwelt und Gesellschaft verbindet.

Der schwedische liberale Think-Tank ‘Forum for Reforms, Entrepreneurship and Sustainability (FORES)’ hat sich seit Jahren genau diesem Thema verschrieben und beteiligt sich an der Diskussion ebenso wie der grüne Flügel der britischen LibDems.

The recent financial and economic crisis has undermined trust in the market economy and the efficiency and effectiveness of market oriented regulations. Sustainable innovation both in terms of environmental friendly innovations and market oriented support are key elements of the Liberal answers.

Teilnehmer:

Cllr Steve Bradley is Member of the British Parliament and chairman of the Green Liberal Democrats, a group within the ELDR member party LibDems. He has been an active campaigner on environmental issues for over 20 years – at both a national and a local level.

Steve is from Ireland, and has been living in Lambeth for the last 7 years. He was elected as a councillor for Vassall Ward in a by-election in March 2008. Prior to then, Vassall ward had been represented by 3 Labour councillors for over 10 years.

The Green Liberal Democrats seek to promote the cause of environmentalism within and outside the Party. The Liberal Democrats have a proud record of being the greenest major political party: we aim to ensure that it stays that way!

Marijn Bosman is consultant at CREM BV. CREM is a specialist and pioneer in sustainability since 1989 that focuses on the challenges confronting people, the environment and the economy – and look for solutions. She took her Ph.D. from the Free University of Amsterdam.

Stiftung IDI (Internationaal Democratisch Initiatief) is the Think-Tank of the international Branch of D66. Its main mission is to strengthen social liberal ideas on an international level. Stichig IDI supports activities of similar political organisations across the world. Liberal Future Forum is closely collaborating with IDI and D66. D66 is characterised as progressive and social liberal party. The vision of the party includes trusting in people’s own power, thinking and acting internationally, rewarding performance and sharing wealth, cherishing civil rights and shared values.

Stefan Gara is managing director and founder of ETA environmental management consulting Ltd. and member of ON FNA 226 (‘Corporate Social Responsibility’). He took his Sc.D. in physics from the University of Technology Vienna and did Post graduate studies on Technology & Innovation Management at M.I.T., Boston. ETA is a Viennese consulting group aiming at a metamorphosis into an ecologically and socially sustainable economic system.

He is lead auditor and accredited environmental verifier for EMAS and for ISO 14001. He is a pioneer in the field and was the first Austrian verifier for sustainability reports. In the past he has served as member of the political bureau of Liberal Forum (LIF).

Karl-Göran Mäler (t.b.c.)  is professor emeritus at the Professor in Economics at the Stockholm School of Economics, and founder and director of  The Beijer Institute of Ecological Economics, The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, and member of the advisory board of FORES. Karl-Göran Mäler is among the world s leading economists in the fields of environment and resources. He began his career in the 1960s when environment was emerging as a global concern and has made seminal contributions to the field.

Forum for Reforms, Entrepreneurship and Sustainability (FORES) is an independent research foundation dedicated to furthering entrepreneurship and sustainable development through liberal solutions to societal challenges brought on by accelerated globalisation and global warming. FORES’ main activities is to initiate research projects and public debates that will result in concrete reform proposals in relevant policy areas such as market solutions to environmental issues, harnessing the positive potential of immigration, the role of civil society in entrepreneurship, the flexibility of labour markets, the protection of the civil rights of the individual, and modernising public services.

• Die Parteichefin Magrethe Vestager bekam ein Schlüsselressort für Wirtschaft und Innere Angelegenheiten. Ihre erste Aktion war, Schengen-Abkommen zur Freizügigkeit des Reiseverkehrs wieder einzuhalten. Sie kündigte weiters an, die populistische und fremdenfeindliche Migrations- und Integrationspolitik zurückzunehemen und neue Akzente zu setzen.
• Weitere Schlüsselressorts, die von den Linksliberalen künftig verantwortet werden sind Forschung, Klima&Energie, Kultur und Entwicklungszusammenarbeit.

Das Kabinett unter der Sozialdemokratin Helle Thorning-Schmidt umfasst insgesamt 23 Ministerinnen und Minister, davon sechs Liberale: in Ressorts, in denen liberale Akzente gesetzt werden können.

Das Liberale Forum gratuliert ihrer Schwesterpartei auf das Herzlichste.

• Demokratiereform: Auch wenn Bürgerinnen- und Bürgerinitiativen wichtige Elemente der modernen Demokratie sind, dürfen sich gewählte Mandatare ihrer Verantwortung nicht entziehen. Klubzwang, Korruption und Missbrauch des Vertrauens haben zu gefährlicher Politikverdroßenheit geführt, die den Missbrauch der Instrumente der direkten Demokratie erst ermöglicht hat.
• Migration und Integration: Nicht zufällig haben jene Städte, die einen hohen Anteil an Migrantinnen und Migranten aufweisen, einen hohen Lebensstandard. Wien ist hier keine Ausnahme. Eine Voraussetzung dafür ist aber eine positive Integrationspolitik. Peter Moore, früherer Bürgermeister von Sheffield hat gezeigt, wie man auch Wahlen mit einer liberalen Zuwanderungs- und Integrationpolitik gewinnen kann.Nach 70 Jahren unter sozialdemokratischer Herrschaft wird Sheffield nunmehr von Liberalen regiert wird.
• Verkehrspolitik: Der Vorrang für öffentlichen Verkehr ist in modernen Großstädten selbstverständlich. Der öffentliche Verkehr verursacht Defizite, in Wien ist nur etwa die Hälfte der Kosten von den Nutzern gedeckt. Eine Reduktion des Defizits ist durchaus auch ohne die Erhöhung der – ohnedies hohen – Fahrpreise erreichbar: durch Vermeidung von Überinvestitionen und durch Transparenz und effiziente Kostenkontrolle. “Braucht Wien tatsächlich Straßenbahnzüge in Porschedesign”, fragt sich nicht nur Angelika Mlinar.
